Seasonal sugarcane worker haversting sugarcane by hand in a farm located in the coastal area of Ipojuca in the Northeast state of Pernambuco, Brazil. In this area sugarcane harvest is manually done due to the presense of hills. The field is first set on fire. The fire burns dry leaves without harming the stalks and roots. Harvesters then cut the cane just above ground-level using special knife.
